Recycling

The Williams County Solid Waste Reduction and Recycling Program is a comprehensive program designed to educate and increase public awareness on solid waste reduction and recycling.

This program is funded through the Four County Solid Waste District.  The “District” includes the counties of Williams, Fulton, Defiance, and Paulding.  Fees are collected from trash disposed at the landfills in Williams County and Defiance County.  Some funding may also be obtained from grants offered through the Ohio EPA.  The program office is located at the Williams County Health Department (WCHD) in Montpelier.

Awareness

The Recycling Program promotes solid waste reduction and recycling through local advertising media such as newspaper, radio, WCHD website, and social media.

Recycling Opportunities

The Recycling Program provides various recycling opportunities throughout the county.  Recycling trailers are placed at various locations throughout Williams County to accept aluminum cans, newspaper, and #1 & #2 plastic bottles.

The program also conducts special recycling collection events throughout the year for items such as electronics, computers, and tires.

For computers and other types of electronics, there are usually two collection events each year.  The first is in April to celebrate Earth Day; the second event is typically in the fall.

Recycling events will be listed under the Current Events in the sidebar and promoted through local media as well as WCHD social media platforms.
